Michael Bublé nació en Vancouver, Canadá. Conoció a los clásicos del pop americano a través de su abuelo. Empezó ensayando "Stardust" y "Melancholy Baby" y ganó un concurso local de nuevos talentos, pero le descalificaron por estar por debajo de la edad reglamentaria para participar en el concurso. Su abuelo, que era fontanero, se ofreció para realizar trabajos gratis para los músicos de la ciudad a cambio de que le dejaran subir al escenario con ellos para interpretar algún que otro tema. Con 17 años Michael Bublé ya tenía cierta experiencia a sus espaldas y sabía exactamente a dónde se dirigía. Ganó el primer premio en el Concurso de Jóvenes Talentos de Canadá, lo que le sirvió para grabar y publicar una serie de álbumes independientes, grabando selecciones de temas inolvidables para Red Rock Diner y para la revista musical Swing.
